Hi!

Now we are in La Cruz De Huanacaxtle, Nayarit.  We are having a great time here.  Yesterday, we went boogie-boarding in Sayulita, which is a 30 minute bus ride.  There is a great Gringo Restaurant/ hang-out place, where Nick and I go and do our homework because it is not as hot as the boat.  Yes, that is right.  It is burning hot down here, we are all wishing we had rain.

Hello again!

Right now we are on the road to Acapulco.  We just left Zihuatanejo, Guerrero.

One day when we were there, we took the bus to Ixtapa.  When we got there, as an early Christmas present, I got to swim with dolphins at Delfiniti!  It was really cool.  I got kissed by a dolphin and they gave me a ride with their noses!  We also went snorkeling, boogie-boarding, and on walks around the town.

Delfiniti!

Before  Zihuatanejo, we were at Tenacatita.  When we were there we went for   a really cool dinghy ride through mangroves.  It was like a jungle.  We even saw a monkey!

This morning, before we left, we got to see turtles that had just hatched! I     even got to hold one.

   I miss you all,

   Katie

Hi.

Yesterday we arrived in Puerto Escondido   The waves here are great for boogie boarding! (not so great for dinghy landings!)  It is a nice little town where they close of the main street to drivers at noon.  Don't expect to get a good boogie board cheap here, $125 for a good one!  I am getting a new board (it's not so great, but it doesn't bend like mine) for $25.  Every one is playing Christmas songs!  Our boat is all decorated for Christmas.   We see a lot of turtles in the water just floating when we are sailing.  Usually they go under water or swim away when they see us, but one didn't look up till we were two feet away, and we hit it!  But I saw it swim away, so it didn't get hurt.  At Acapulco we had a good time.  It was a big town, but there weren't beggars.  We saw Matrix revolution  and Swat at the Cineopolis and had pizza for Thanksgiving.  School is fine, but it is hard to do school work in the heat, even though it is cooling down.

Love,

Hola!

We are now at a marina in Huatulco.  Yesterday we went on a tour to waterfalls.

Waterfalls

We went on a trail for most of it, but after a while the trail ended and the guide took us through the waterfalls! We got to go on a rope swing! The water was freezing cold.  I had a great time.

We get ice cream every night, and we always go to the same spot.  We check our e-mail a lot, So keep writing.  School is fine, since we are having nice weather.  We got a little Christmas tree and it is all decorated.  we see trees and lights every where even though Christmas is three weeks away!

BECCA, WHERE IS MY E-MAIL?

SEE YA IN ABOUT THREE WEEKS

We are in Jalepeque, El Salvador, Central America!  I have not seen much of the town, except for the marina/hotel area.  That is because I got a second degree burn on my leg on the way over here.  I was eating hot tap ramen and spilt it on my leg!  I got a huge blister, but we had to pop it.  It hurts to walk around, but I am getting used to it.  Right now my dad is getting a rental car from the airport because we are going to stay here awhile and we also want to go into Honduras to go see Mayan ruins at Copan.  I am having fun and seeing interesting sites, but I miss you guys!  I hope you guys keep writing e-mails and tell me what's happening back home.

THAT'S ALL FOR NOW FOLKS!

Hi hi hi!

We are on are way to Nicaragua.  On the 15 we left Jalepeque (in the car) and were on our way to Copan Ruinas, a town in Honduras.  We stopped for the night at a hotel in La Palma, a town just before the border.  It was a nice place with three beds, a shower, and a TV.  It was from watching news in Spanish that we found out that Saddam Hussein was caught.  Early the next morning we left to cross the border into Honduras.  That took about twenty minutes.  Then we were underway to Copan.  We got there around noon and, after getting a hotel, went to the Mayan ruins.   They were really cool, but I wish my leg didn't hurt so I could have walked around more.  It was kind of weird to be walking around things that the Mayans had built!

We went back to the hotel after that and everyone but me went into town.  I did not go because my leg was hurting.  We went to eat at a restaurant owned by a Holland couple.  After that we did our homework at the hotel.  We watched Black Hawk Down before we went to bed.  It was a fun day.

Hi!

We are in Marina Puesta Del Sol in Nicaragua.  It is a nice marina, but it isn't finished yet.  We are going to go into town tomorrow to look for Christmas food!  This is by far the hottest Christmas I've ever had!  I am having a lot of fun, but I can't wait to go home!  The internet is free here so keep writing.  You can even instant message on aim.  My screen name is Greenmonky56. Make sure you don't write Greenmonkey with a ey.  We don't get to go out anywhere because we haven't checked in yet and immigration won't be here until Saturday. I don't know if we are going to leave the boat here or take it back to El Salvador, or take it to Costa Rica.  That is all I can think of for now, so I'll talk to you later!

January 4, 2004!

Hi!

We are in Costa Rica! (k)  It's really beautiful. On Christmas we went into Grenada, Nicaragua. On Christmas Eve there were tons of LOUD firecrackers going off outside our hotel and they didn't stop until midnight!  On Christmas Day we went on a canopy tour. It was really fun!  We got to hang upside down when we went down the ziplines!

Me doing the "monkey"

It was a hard sail over here from Nicaragua.  Three nights and four days!  One day the winds were up to thirty knots!  On my two a.m. to four a.m. shift we were going nine knots! (we usually only go about 5 or 6, and 9 knots with the wind and the huge swells was knot a good combo.)  My door frame broke away from the wall!  We went on a hike up through the jungle to the marina owners' property, and it was great!  There were leaf cutter ants, birds, and many other animals.  It was sad when we got up there because it is an archeological site and some of the local people think that there is treasure buried there.  They tip over old artifacts and dig.  It was discouraging.  Tomorrow we are going to go to an island about 20 miles away on a ferry and stay there overnight.  See ya on the tenth!
